Day 1

Depart Bristol on your KLM flight to Shanghai via Amsterdam.

Day 2

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel, the 4* Ocean Hotel for 3 nights. Despite decades of neglect Shanghai has emerged as a fast moving, forward thinking city. Overshadowed by modern Shanghai, the past is clustered in a maze of narrow lanes in the Chinese City selling anything and everything. Perhaps the most famous thoroughfare in Shanghai is the Bund, which stretches along the Huangpu River, and is flanked by a line of colonial buildings which were home to foreign trading houses and banks.

Day 3

Visit the Bund, Yuyuan Garden and Jade Buddha Temple.

Day 4

At leisure.

Day 5

In the morning visit Shanghai Museum and Nanjing Road. Transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Beijing. On arrival will be met and transferred to the 3* Harmony Hotel for three nights.

At the heart of Beijing is the vast Tiananmen Square. Beyond the Gate of Heavenly Peace is the Forbidden City which was the home of the Ming and Qing dynasty emperors for five centuries. To the north of Beijing is the sheer magnitude of the Great Wall.

Day 6

Visit Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace.

Day 7

Visit the Great Wall, Sacred Way and Ming Tombs.

Day 8

Transfer to the airport for the morning flight to Xi’an. On arrival you will be met, have lunch, and then visit the Old City Wall. Check in at the 4* Bell Tower Hotel for 2 nights.

Xian, the ancient capital of China, has seen the rise and fall of many Chinese dynasties and this modest walled and moated city has revealed some of the greatest treasures to be found in recent times – the Terracotta Army.

Day 9

Visit the Terracotta Warriors and Banbo Village.

Day 10

In the morning visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Tang Dynasty Museum. After lunch transfer to the airport for the late afternoon flight to Guilin. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the 4* Guilin Plaza Hotel for two nights.

Day 11

In the morning enjoy a cruise on the Li River (Yangshuo-Guilin). After lunch, visit Yangshuo Town. Late afternoon return to Guilin.

Day 12

In the morning visit Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill and Yaoshan Hill by cable. After lunch the afternoon is at leisure. You will be transferred to the airport for the evening flight to Hong Kong. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the 3* Ramada Hotel.

Day 13

Morning half day sightseeing tour. The tour commences with a visit to Victoria Peak, where you climb up by the famous Peak Tram to sample panoramic views of the city and the harbour. Then it is off to two of the most popular summer resorts in Hong Kong, Repulse Bay and Deep Water Bay. The tour will continue by taking a glimpse at Aberdeen Fishing Village and then to Stanley Market.

Days 14 – 15

At leisure.

Day 16

Early transfer to Hong Kong Airport in time to check in for your return flight to Bristol via Amsterdam.
