India – Amritsar and Rajasthan : 21 days
Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on your overnight flight to Delhi.
Day 2 Delhi
You will be met on arrival and transferred to Claridges Hotel for two nights.
Day 3 Delhi
Full day sightseeing in Old and New Delhi.
Day 4 Delhi – Amritsar
You will be transferred to New Delhi railway station to board the Shatabdi Express to Amritsar. On arrival transfer to the Ranjit Svassa Hotel for two nights. In the afternoon enjoy a city sightseeing tour including the Golden Temple. Amritsar is one of the Punjab’s principal cities and is best known for the world famous Golden Temple, the seat of Sikh religion. Besides thriving industry, the Punjab is also known for handicrafts and handlooms.
Day 5 Amritsar
Excursion to Wagah border to witness the retreat ceremony. The final frontier, Wagah, about 28 kms from Amritsar is the only border crossing between India and Pakistan. It is an interesting experience especially at sunset when the ‘Retreat’ ceremony takes place on the Indian side of the border. The changing of the guard and the ceremonial lowering of the flags ceremony is carried out with great pomp.
Day 6 Delhi
You will be transferred to Amritsar railway station to board the Shatabdi Express train to Delhi. On arrival, you will be transferred to Claridges Hotel for overnight.
Day 7 Delhi – Mandawa
Drive from Delhi to Mandawa, approx five hours. Visit to the Mandawa Havelis in the afternoon. The walled city of Mandawa was founded in the mid-18th century; it has interesting murals in the large rugged fort – now a hotel boastÂing excellent views. Overnight Mandawa Castle.
Day 8 Mandawa – Bikaner
Drive from Mandawa to Bikaner, approx five hours. In the afternoon enjoy a tour of Bikaner city.
Overnight Bhanwar Niwas Palace.
Day 9 Bikaner – Jaisalmer
Drive from Bikaner to Jaisalmer, approx five hours. Rest of the day is at leisure. Two nights Fort Rajwada.
Day 10 Jaisalmer
Half day sightseeing tour in Jaisalmer. – visit Gadisar Lake, Jaisalmer Fort, Jain temples and the Havelis (mansions) of Nathmalji, Salim Singh, and Patwon. The name Jaisalmer evokes a vivid picture of the desert. Afternoon at leisure. In the evening take a camel ride into the sand dunes!
Day 11 Jaisalmer – Jodhpur
Transfer to the railway station in time for the train to Jodhpur. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Karni Bhawan for two nights.
Day 12 Jodhpur
Standing at the edge of the Thar Desert, Jodhpur is the largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur. The city is dominated by a massive fort that sits atop a sheer rocky ridge right in the middle of the town. Morning sightseeing tour of Jodhpur city including Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 13 Jodhpur – Ranakpur – Udaipur
Drive from Jodhpur to Ranakpur, approx three hours, and visit the Jain Temples. Near the village of Sadri lies the Ranakpur temple complex – one of the biggest and most important clusters of Jain temples in India. Continue from Ranakpur to Udaipur. Two nights at The Grand Laxmi Vilas.
Day 14 Udaipur
In the morning proceed on a tour of this “Lake City”. This will include the City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Sahelion-ki-bari. Enjoy a boat ride in the evening on the placid waters of Lake Pichola.
Day 15 Udaipur – Deogarh
Drive from Udaipur to Deogarh, approx four hours. The beautiful rambling hilltop former royal residence Deogarh Mahal dominates a delightful small town and is nestled among the Aravalli Hills, dotted with majestic forts and lakes. Overnight.
Day 16 Deogarh – Pushkar
Drive from Deogarh to Pushkar, approx three hours. Check in at your hotel, Pushkar Fort, for overnight stay. Rest of the day is at leisure. Pushkar has more than 500 temples, including the only temple in India dedicated to Lord Brahma. The town clings to the side of the small but beautiful Pushkar Lake with its many bathing ghats and temples.
Day 17 Pushkar – Kuchaman
Visit Pushkar Lake and Brahma Temples. Later drive to Kuchaman, approx three hours.
Overnight Kuchaman Fort.
Day 18 Kuchaman – Jaipur
Drive to Jaipur, approx three hours. Two nights at Shahpura House.
Day 19 Jaipur
Morning excursion to the Amber Fort which is reached on elephant back or by jeep, and afternoon city sightseeing tour.
Day 20 Jaipur – Delhi
Transfer to Delhi. Overnight Claridges Hotel.
Day 21
Transfer to the airport in time to check in for your return flight to the UK.
