Kerala : 13 days

Day 1

Depart London Heathrow on your flight to Cochin via Kuwait.

Day 2

On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Tharavad Heritage home at Palaghat where you will stay for the next three nights. You will be introduced to local village life and visits to the local potter and basket weaver are included.

Days 3 – 4

At leisure.

Day 5

After breakfast drive to Munnar, a hill station set amongst the stunning scenery of the Western Ghats and surrounded by tea estates. Two nights at the Windermere.

Day 6

At leisure.

Day 7

After breakfast, drive to Thekkady. In the afternoon visit Periyar Tiger Reserve and take a boat trip on the lake. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed! Two nights at the Spice Village.

Day 8

Enjoy a three hour jungle trek with a local guide. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 9

Drive to Trivandrum, and Kovalam, for three nights at the Somatheeram Ayurvedic Resort. Relax on the beach, or enjoy some of the Ayurvedic treatments there, and recharge the batteries. Somatheeram has a combination of health, yoga and meditation programmes.

Days 10 – 11

At leisure.

Day 12

Drive to Alleppey, and enjoy fantastic views of the backwaters en route. Overnight Olavipe Homestay. Olavipe is the home of the ‘Parayil Tharakans’, a well-known Syrian Christian family of Kerala. Set amidst the lush tropical greenery of Olavipe Island this century-old mansion is located on a forty-acre organic farm on the banks of the Kaithappuzha Backwater.

Day 12

Drive to Cochin, where a half day sightseeing tour of this wonderful old town is included. Sightseeing includes the Chinese fishing nets, Mattancherry Palace, the church of St. Francis and the Jewish Synagogue. Overnight the Old Courtyard Hotel.

Day 13

Early transfer to the airport for your return flight to London.
