Day 1 San Jose

On arrival at Juan Santamaria International Airport you will be met and transferred to the Grano de Oro Hotel for overnight.

Day 2 Tortuguero

Transfer by car and boat via the Braulio Carrillo National Park to Pachira Lodge in the Tortuguero National Park. This is a natural network of scenic and navigable waterways and one of the most exotic and beautiful regions of Costa Rica, rich in flora and fauna. Visit the museum and picturesque town of Tortuguero.

Day 3 Tortuguero

Enjoy nature at its best as you undertake a journey through the canals at dawn, and admire a real Caribbean sunrise. Take your time to enjoy the private trails, or just relax. Optional night tour: walk on the beach to see the green turtles nesting (July to September).

Day 4 Arenal

Transfer to the Arenal area. To the northeast of the Central Valley, this region includes primary forests, swamps, plantations, rivers with hot springs, and the most active volcano of Costa Rica – Arenal. Three nights at The Lost Iguana Resort.

Day 5 Arenal

Morning at leisure. In the late afternoon accompanied by your guide, go to the active side of the Arenal Volcano to observe the tumbling lava rocks. Next, head for a bit of rest and relaxation at the beautiful Tabacon Resort and see the hot springs and exotic tropical gardens. When the sun sets, the show begins, and the sight of red-hot lava boulders rolling down the volcano as you soak in the springs will stun you.

Day 6 Arenal

Peñas Blancas River Floating safari tour: half day. Accompanied by a professional bilingual guide, enjoy the sights and the sounds of the rainforest and experience its peacefulness as you quietly paddle the Peñas Blancas River. Monkeys, sloths, iguanas, crocodiles and numerous tropical birds await you.

Day 7 Monteverde

Transfer by boat from Arenal to Monteverde. Two nights at Sapo Dorado Hotel, near the Monteverde Biological Reserve.

Day 8 Monteverde

Today, experience the walk ways, butterfly garden and hummingbird gallery at Selvatura. Walk through the bridge system and admire the wonders of the virgin cloud forest from the level of its canopy.

Day 9 Monteverde / Tamarindo

Visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Spectacular wildlife includes the jaguar, ocelot, and resplendent Quetzal. In the afternoon, transfer to Tamarindo beach in Guanacaste. The province of Guanacaste encompasses dry, wet and very humid forests, including the protected areas of the few remnants of the tropical dry forests which once extended from Mexico along the entire Pacific coast. The region of the north Pacific is a land of beautiful landscapes made up of bays, forest clad hills, volcanoes, wild rivers and beautiful beaches. Three nights at Hotel Capitan Suizo.

Day 10 Tamarindo

Visit the Rincón de la Vieja National Park. The climate in this national park is so diverse that areas with a severe dry season lasting 4 or 5 months are immediately followed by others, near the summit or on the Caribbean side, where there is constant rainfall, which gives rise to a forest rich in epiphytes.

Day 11 Tamarindo

Visit the Palo Verde National Park and the Tempisque River – a paradise for bird watchers. There is a variety of habitats with mangroves, swamps, and both fresh and salt water lagoons. Take a two and a half hour boat ride on the Tempisque River.

Day 12 Manuel Antonio

Transfer to Manuel Antonio. The Manuel Antonio National Park is home of the white faced capuchin, mantled howler and red-backed squirrel monkeys, two and three toed sloths as well as a number of species of birds. Punta Catedral (Cathedral Point), the bay of Puerto Escondido and the beautiful beaches with blue green waters represent some of the main attractions of this park.

Two nights at Casitas Eclipse.

Day 13 Manuel Antonio

After breakfast at the hotel an experienced guide will take you on an informative walk through the park. After the tour, you may stay in the park or return to the hotel.

Day 14

Transfer from Manuel Antonio to San Josè. Overnight at Hotel Grano de Oro.

Day 15

Departure transfer to the International Airport in time for your return flight to the UK
