USA – New York and South : 15 days

Day 1

Depart UK on your flight to New York. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Helmsley Hotel for four nights.

Day 2 New York

Accompanied by a professional tour guide, see all of Manhattan from Uptown to Downtown. You will see the new Times Square, Madison Square Garden, the Flatiron building, Greenwich Village, SoHo, Little Italy and Battery Park. At Battery Park you will then board a ferry on a one-hour cruise with close-up views of the Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island and the Brooklyn Bridge. You will then resume the tour at Battery Park driving up North to Central Park, the Cathedral St. John the Divine, Grant’s Tomb, Harlem, the Museum Mile, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center and more.

Day 3 New York

In the morning enjoy a traditional leisurely three hour cruise circumnavigating Manhattan Island’s thirty five mile coastline. The cruise is narrated throughout by an English speaking guide. Highlights of the tour include the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Battery Park and Brooklyn Bridge. You will also see the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, the United Nations, Gracie Mansion, Harlem, Yankee Stadium, and the George Washington Bridge. Afternoon at leisure. In the evening perhaps take in a Broadway show.

Day 4 New York

Day 5 New York to Nashville, Tennessee

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Nashville. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Millennium Maxwell House for four nights.

Day 6 Nashville

A half day tour of Music City USA. Enjoy a narrated tour of the historic downtown, Fort Nashborough, the State Capitol, The Parthenon, Vanderbilt University and Music Row. Your tour will also include entrance into the Ryman Auditorium, the Mother Church of Country Music, long time home of the Grand Ole Opry and recently voted the finest concert venue in the United States. You will also tour the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. End your touring day at a Nashville Honky Tonk with live Country Music. This is a fantastic way to get to know the city. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 7 Nashville

Explore the city at your leisure. Suggestions: start on Lower Broadway where old honkytonks line the streets (places like Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and Robert’s Western World, a boot store turned music bar) and from lunchtime through to the early hours you can bar-hop listening to live music. Move on to The District, a 16-block entertainment area home to the Wildhorse Saloon dancehall, BB King’s Blues Club and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum (Grand Ole Opry). Other suggestions: visit the pre Civil War estate mansions that conjure up the style of the old south. Visit the presidential home of Andrew Jackson (The Hermitage). Tour the beautifully restored State Capital building then walk down to the Bicentennial Mall State Park and have lunch at the Farmers’ Market.

Day 8 Nashville

Day 9

Transfer to Nashville Airport for your flight to New York and connect with your return flight to the UK.
